Connect Social Media Profiles to Your OctopusPro Customer Portal

Customer Portal Social Media Icons (Social Networks)

OctopusPro lets you add clickable social media icons to the footer (bottom) of your Customer Portal. Each icon links to your chosen social profile and opens in a new browser tab, so customers can follow you without leaving the booking flow.

What this feature does

  • Displays social media icons in the Customer Portal footer.
  • Each icon opens your social profile in a new tab (customers stay on your portal).
  • Icons are only shown for platforms where you saved a valid link.
  • Supported platforms can include Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Pinterest, RSS, and more (the list can vary by account/version).

Before you start

  • Admin access required: you need permission to edit Customer Portal settings.
  • Have your social profile URLs ready (use the full link starting with https://).
  • If you use a custom/white-label portal URL, this does not affect social icons. (Portal URL guide: Customer Portal URL White-Labelling)

How to add social media icons

  1. Open Social Networks settings
Go to: Settings → Customer Portal → Social networks

Customer Portal settings - Social networks tab

  2. Select the social platform
Choose the network from the dropdown list (for example, Instagram or Facebook).
  3. Paste your profile URL
Paste the full profile/page URL (including https://), then click Add.

Add a social link and click Add

    Examples: https://www.facebook.com/yourpage, https://www.instagram.com/yourbrand, https://www.youtube.com/@yourchannel

  4. Save changes
Your link will appear in the list. Click Save changes to publish it to the Customer Portal.

  5. Verify in your Customer Portal
Open your Customer Portal in a normal browser (Chrome/Safari) and refresh the page. Icons should appear in the footer.

  • Edit a link: if inline editing isn’t available, delete the existing entry and add the correct URL again, then click Save changes.
  • Remove a link: click the delete/trash icon next to the entry, then click Save changes.
  • Reorder icons: if you want a specific order, delete and re-add the links in the order you want, then click Save changes.

Examples & use cases

  • Trades & home services: link Instagram/YouTube to showcase before/after work and build trust before the customer books.
  • Health, beauty, and wellness: link your socials so customers can see your latest offers, results, and client feedback.
  • Multi-location brands: link to your primary brand accounts (or a dedicated “locations” landing page) so customers can follow the right branch.

Best practices

  • Use business profiles (not personal accounts) for a professional customer experience.
  • Use full HTTPS links (avoid incomplete URLs).
  • Keep the booking flow clean: footer icons are ideal because they don’t distract customers during booking.
  • Track clicks: if you use analytics, add UTM parameters to your URLs (example: ?utm_source=customer_portal&utm_medium=footer_icon).
  • Review regularly: remove dormant accounts to avoid reducing trust.
  • Security tip: only add links you control (avoid short/unknown redirect links).

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Icons aren’t showing on the Customer Portal.
Confirm you clicked Add and then Save changes. Then refresh the Customer Portal in a normal browser. If needed, test using an incognito/private window (to avoid caching).

The icon opens the wrong page.
Delete the link, add the correct URL again, then click Save changes. Also confirm you selected the correct platform from the dropdown.

My URL is correct, but it still doesn’t work.
Make sure it starts with https:// and that the page is publicly accessible. Some social platforms restrict access based on region/login settings.

Can I add multiple accounts for the same platform?
If your portal only displays one entry per platform, use a single landing page (for example, a link hub page) and link to that, or rotate the link seasonally.
